Seems we have recruits from Australia who are also planning events for the same weekend linked to the games in Grimsby/Slimbridge Grin

As I won't be able to attend this year, I was planning on fighting a small solo battle based around the Irish Brigade attached to the French forces around Mannheim. I'm taking this from John Hackett's Untold Story, which has a brigade force serving with II French Corps. Thus I am planning on an Irish battalion with some French armour in support taking on a Soviet force. Now, could anyone recommend a stand in model for the Timoney mk.4 APC as I don't think anyone makes one, surprisingly. I was thinking the V100 Commando, perhaps? Or even a Chinese WZ551? otherwise I'll just use Panhard M3's. Then I'll need a brace of 25pdrs for artillery and an Alouette helo for air support... I was thinking the new h&r Danish infantry to represent the Irish with FN rifles?

Interesting - the Timoney is also used by the Belgians, Argentinians, Mexicans and even the UK. So worth a chat with Andy @ H&R.
The new H&R Danes would work well as Irish.

I look forward to seeing the battle report Smile

Why does that sound so familiar Neil!

I have recently 'acquired' a very nice (painted) Bundeswehr, but it needs basing for the game and also (as is so often the case) there were no infantry included SadSadSad and that is the bit I find so challenging.

Plus my Soviets also need a base refresh to bring them back up to 2019 fighting quality ...

So it looks like a busy summer, what with everything else on my plate (both work, family and wargaming*). Grin

NB: I will create a separate but parallel Slimbridge thread for the shadow game (here and on the Pendraken site) so that we don't all go getting confuzded my precious Stunned

Right the time has come to get a definitive list of players for Grimsby 2019. Can you please let me know ASAP either here or on the Cold War Commanders Facebook page. If you are planning on attending the Slimbridge event I believe Mark F is posting details on the Pendraken Forum.

Count me in for Grimsby please Mr P. West Germans, either Panzer grenadiers or TA as required.

I think I'm going to have to join this new fangled 21st century and get a Faceache account to stay in touch with news of the weekend.

Good Evening,

I will be posting this on the CWC Facebook Page and on the Pendraken Forum later as well.

Plans are ongoing for the Grimsby event, the map has been finalised and will be posted shortly. For those of you attending Grimsby and have been before we are only using the upstairs large table with the extension section added. So roughly the playing area is 22ft x 6ft.

Current player listings are as follows:-
NATO
Andy C - British
Andy B - British
Andy H - US
Andy T - West German
Chris S - TBC

WP
Richard P - Soviet
Peter S - Soviet
Mark W - Soviet
Alf S - Soviet
Mark J - Soviet
Ian S? - Soviet

UMPIRE
Steve G

If there is anyone else who plans on attending Grimsby can you please let me know asap as we only have 1 or 2 spaces left.

Set up will be Friday PM followed by a curry at the usual place. For those of you looking for accommodation we all usually stay at the Holiday Inn Express as its opposite the Indian and a short drive away from the venue. You can also walk to the venue in about 15 minutes.

Saturday - Meet at 9.30am for briefings and deployment, although if we can get any of this done on the Friday evening we will. We will try and play as long as possible on the Saturday as we donlt have to be out by a certain time.

Sunday - Meet 9.30am and resume play. Fish and Chips for lunch and then we will play until around 4.00pm to allow time for packing up and getting home before we all turn into pumpkins Smile

Can you please let me know if you will be there on Friday evening so we can book the table at the Indian.

Stay Tuned!

Cheers

Richard P

Don't forget if you are planning on attending the Slimbridge event on the same weekend please get in touch with Mark F (Big Insect) via this forum or the Pendraken forum.

Evening Steve, I'll be setting off from work near Manchester airport at 4.30pm,so will probably be there before 7.30pm. So put me down for curry please, but not sure if I'll be in time to help with set up.

Looking forward to it now.
