They do rather! You must provide a full review when they arrive as I may be tempted to replace the foam ones I've just started....

Will do! I went for white lines only, rather than yellow and white - better for Europe Gimme

Think I'll stick to art board and sand/flock then.

I've been experimenting with painted masking tape for roads. I started by rolling out the tape on a flat surface, painting the non-sticky tape and when the surface is dry rolling the tape up. (Dried out texta-colours make convenient rolling tubes)

When you want to use it you simply stick the tape to the gaming board. It's easy enough to re-roll at the games end and you can get multiple uses out of a single strip. Because of the intended use masking tape doesn't leave a sticky residue on the board when removed.

Look it's not art but works well enough and is both quick to prepare and dirt cheap.

I bought some medium thickness grey card and added white lines with a gel penn, then glued flock / scrub along the edges.

I think I've used "felt" roads and the problem is getting them to lie flat. They're just too light to sit properly under their own weight?

Fuller or possibly Noch (I think) sell gray roads with white markings on them in N scale, I think thats what pete used on the picture thats on the cover of CWC. There not overly expensive and you can get them in train shops or modelzone.

Yes that's right, Dave - I have a lot of those Smile I found I had to base them on thin card to make them lie flat, though.

I've just bought a batch of felt off ebay for a few quid and will have a go making my own. I'm inspired by the Hotz stuff but the price plus shipping seems a bit rich for what it is. Anyway, each to his own!

For me, it's a trade-off between how long it would take me to make them and how much I can earn if I spend that time working Smile

I make all mine using vinyl floor tiles they are great because they are heavy enough to sit flat and also take slight contours. There are some pictures on my wiki

Pete,

Did these arrive? And are they any good?

Just been looking at the new rivers they are doing but want an idea on if they are any good?
