Why not Dave? Look fine to me...my only comment would be that maybe you could lighten them a touch to make them 'pop' from the base?

If you mixed a tone that was your base colour + Bleached Bone 50:50 & then thinned it, paint it inside the colours you've got...will add depth. I always do this with my camo in all scales...have a look at the camo on my 2mm armour here: http://nikharwood.pbworks.com/CWC-Arab-Battlegr...

I second Nik on this one.
I also dry brush sand/dust colour at the end. It picks up the raised features nicely.

I actually use Tamiya Weathering Powder on mine...not sure if that's what you all mean. Works terrific for me.

Yep. Drybrush those or even dust them a bit to get them to stand out more. Other than that, they look great. Definitely better than my 1st attempt at 3mm, which I'm trying to touch up right now.

Here are a couple of pics of my Oddzial Osmy 1/600 USMC 1970s force.
Sorry for the poor quality but these were taken with my mobile. I will try to get a proper camera later on.

Camo is MERDC desert gray.

I'd lighten the bases well add contrast and reflect light.

Bases look pretty good to me, actually. With these bad quality fotos, you can still see what they are at arm's length, so...

Of course, more contrast is always good.
