I believe I read somewhere in the rules that recon units' initiative range was infinite. Does anyone else recall this, or was it just my imagination?

Page 10 last para.

...may only fire ..during the initiative phase.... during ther initiative phase ...must fire at the nearest visible enemy unit....up to their maximum range.

It is Snipers that have unlimitied initiative distance (p40, 3rd bullet).

Ah, Snipers. That's right. OK.

So here's question #2: What if you have an ambush scheduled using only sniper units? The Ambush rules say the ambush is triggered when an enemy unit moves within initiative distance. Snipers have unlimited initiative distance. So does that mean you can basically initiate the sniper ambush anytime?

For an Ambush I would used the initiative range from the tac doctrine of the army.
