'up to three ambushes may be placed per 500 points'

do these have to be bought as normal assets, or are they provided to the defender for free ?

[150 points per 500 is a lot of points to spend on ambushes]

Also, if you buy no ambushes at all, but just use the hidden deployment rules, the attacker may not request any air or artillery support for the duration of the game. Is this correct ? Huh?

I am reading it as the ambushes are provided for free. Not sure on the Air and Artillery, one for Mr Jones I think.

Can you purchase artillery for this scenario? The 2nd sentence indicates you can't but the last sentence indicates you can?????

The second sentences refers to assets which are only used for scheduled artillery fire.
