Sorry to be mr ask loadsa questions at the moment. But supposing your aircraft or helicopter is shot down are you still able to request such support in future turns even though in the case where you have only bought one model/flight.

No, if the aircraft is downed it's out. At least I've never not played it that way, not had anyone else suggest it!

WE recycle the fixed wings in big games, but once hit the chopper is gone.

Thanks for your thoughts. I was playing the rule as 'once it's shot down it's gone' and for that reason I bought two helis for my game last night but as may opponent had full air superiority I bottled trying to bring them on.Sad

We play that once it's dead it's dead - otherwise there's no real penalty for losing them? Huh?

m.simmo - I think I'd have tried to use them though, unless it was a linked / campaign type game. By not bringing them haven't you treated them as having been destroyed anyway and simply saved your opponent the work? Sad

I take your point Mr Dave but in my battle my COs and HQs were so heavily engaged with giving orders on the ground and enjoying some success in a tight situation I couldn't risk a failed roll on the helicopters. Had there been a breathing space in the game I would have done so.

Ahhhhh, yes of course. The command roll failure risk would make anyone think twice. When you’re busy, you can be toooo busy. Good point.

We tend to ignore air superiority when calling in helos as they tend to be a bit further forward and maybe less likely to be interdicted.

We always ignore air superiority for everything all the time. We don’t play points games, but air superiority always seemed odd to us. It’s free to have it and can make a real difference.
