Today I managed my first game of the year at the North Shields Club with second game in our CWC campaign. Having dislodged the West Germans in the first game, at heavy cost, I now faced a 5000 point defensive position with but a 400 point advantage! It did not bode well!

Full report is here: http://blog.belisarius.org.uk/2011/01/commander...

Needless to say I lost...badly!

We had a few questions on the use of chemicals, especially as they seemed very effective against M1s, which should be able to cope with them?

Anyway, next game I'm defending as my assault force is spent...

Cheers

"His valiant troops were led into a trap, suffering 25% casualties..."

Isn't it considered a good day when a Soviet force suffers "only" 25% causalties?

Good AAR, really like the format.Cool

If you only had 400pts advantage I'm not surprised you lost!

Re the chems: be thankful you had something that affects dug-in M1s! Lol!

re the chems. We thought they had far too much effect on the M1s. Surely they are designed to cope with this?

I'm not surprised I lost but it was worth a try. I think playing over the table width and with more terrain would have allowed me to concentrate what forces I had.

Next time...

I agree with comments above that a points advantage of a mere 1.08 to 1 had the Soviets batting on a losing wicket but, hey, that’s campaigns for you – don’t lose the first battle! One thing that struck me when looking at the photos was that the table looked a bit bare perhaps. If the darker bits on the cloth are merely cosmetic (and don’t represent something that blocks LOS) then those lanes of fire must really have punished the attacker – I can see clear across the table in a few directions…

Nice AAR though.

I've not been happy with the amount of terrain in either game so far. It has cost me dear.

No dpubt it will change next game when I'm on the defensive and give me nothing to shoot at until it's tool late!
