But sometimes it is hard to believe what they tell you!

Last read from a fellow that was on the way to Stalingrad October 1942. Fresh grenadiers for the 24th Panzerdivision (about 320 men in a smaller train).

It was a long run and not first priority. When the main track was disabled they had to take a narrow one. When the locomotive was damaged by a russian plan and lost power.

At every hill they had to push now the train uphill!!!

Hmmm... did they use a tank to push it?

The transport didn´t include any vehicles.
They had to walk the last about 150 km as they were too slow with the train and had run out of supplies.

There's a good Russian phrase - "Lies like like an eye witness" Still, maybe they did, 300 blokes with block and tackle and elbow grease can shift a lot!
