Hello

Been a while but I have finally finished painting and basing my GHQ models and I am attempting to see how they stat with BC2 rules using the Battle group system (and stats in the book). Once I have moved house I will attempt to get pictures of the whole lot and post for posterity. Anway, on to the units I am having issues with.

For the UK/Commonwealth 1941 North Africa I am unsure what to stat these as:
Boys Antitank Rifle Team (Infantry upgrade?)
Mortar Teams (there are 3 different entries, what would be appropriate?)
Crusader Is (not sure what "pounder" these are)
Valentine MkIIs (not sure what "pounder" these are)

The same goes for the 1941 Afrika Korps:
88mm Gun (Looks like anti-aircraft but I can only see ATG in the rulebook)
Machine Gun Teams (Support unit, M-34/42?)
Pz Kpfw IIIFs (Kurz or Lang or 37mm??)
Pz Kpfw IVF1s (Kurz or Lang??)
Mortar Teams (support team 81mm I assume?)

These are from the GHQ Combat Command range. 1941 North Africa. I am very slowing beginning to understand the terminology and so on. But bits of it are still "above my pay grade"and my google-fu is failing me! Once I have the units secured (number-wise) I can begin mucking around with them on a table (learning how to play in other words).

Any help is appreciated.

Boys ATR- Infantry Upgrade
3" Mortar - 3 stats show how weapon became better over time, see dates in the NOTES column
Crusader I is a 2 pounder/40mm
Valentine has 2 pounder/40mm - see dates for introduction of 6pdr
88 was dual-purpose gun but used as AT. Was a heavy AA gun anyway.
These MGs have a tripod/frame that makes them Heavy MG
PzIII have dates in the NOTES column to guide you to when 37 or 50mm were in use
PzIV F1 is 75mm short/kurz
Mortar Teams 81mm is clear

I pop ATR's on a penny and slip them behind/onto the normal infantry base to show which have an upgrade. You could just pop them directly onto the base anyway, I just like the flexibility Wink

TBH a mortar is a mortar in this scale - unless it's a huge one versus a tiny one (2" to 4.2" sort of thing) then anything in the "normal sized-ish" category is likely usable as anything else - and as edenviews says it also depends on year and doctrine, availability etc etc and one weapon can be covered by multiple stat lines across the period!

The 88mm only has "ground stats" as within BKC's frame of reference it's not actually useful as an AA weapon, as they'd be firing "barrages" into an area and hoping the aircraft fly through them. On table they're just part of the "ground forces" and used as ATGs/light arty.

I'm navigating the tables a bit better now and I have got the bulk of the information in a spreadsheet. Helps to read the chapter introduction (obviously).

Thanks
