Finally I've got a week off and I'm staying with my parents for some days during which I've planned to do some work on my 6mm terrain (mostly field defences... but sadly I've forgotten to bring my copy of BKC with me, so I need to ask you for the measurements of mine fields and trench sections... could you guys please help me with that? All I can remember is thata mine field is something like 20 x ? cm Confused

By the way, do you have any construction tips at hand on how to tackle this? This morning I was toying around and found out that trenches would be quite wide when using 40x20mm infantry bases... Seems 60mm width will be necessary to accommodate an infantry base... which seems quite a lot to me. Any ideas are welcome!

Thanks

Most of my defences are in 6mm, I do two types - bunkers with no infnatry in them, my prefred type, or pits to take a regular infantry base. These need to be at least 10mm wider than the base all round. Iv'e found that three layers of art-board are needed to make the pit deep enough.

Build in steps - and then go to one of the cheap shops, ours are called "Pound Land" or similar, and get some filler. THis gives you the side slopes. Sand and flock as normal. I use thsi method for tank pits as well, leaving the rear open, size with the largest model used, and do in troop/platoon sized bases.

Minefields have a fence round em, with signs, youi can find those on warflag in 28mm, but are scaleable. The fence - my latest version involves usine square section plastic and cotton, drill the plastic, thread the cotton through, for 6mm I used 5mm lenghts of plastic, knot the cotton on the end to hold it, then super glue. Add as mnay "posts" as you need then glue to the base as needed.

Nice ideas, Ian! I'll certainly try them. I especially like the pit idea. Should also work for trench sections, I guess, at least for straight sections, that is. Thank you, too! Smile

I'd do some photos except they are off on manouvers, and I cant take photos anyway.

basic principles work in all scales, but it does get rather large for big bases.
