Posted on 07 August 2010 at 10:56:40 GMT I know when i play opponents at the club they try to cheat, we have one who manipulates the rules until the outcome is good for him, so i am liking the idea of solo play now my only concern is what happens if cheating occurs, maybe i will be the ref as well |

Posted on 07 August 2010 at 13:44:12 GMT I wonder, should there only be one thread in this section of the forums? |

Posted on 08 August 2010 at 03:24:00 GMT Actually if we do this section correctly there should only be one poster and he/she should also answer his/her own questions. Now, shall we really get esoteric? |

Posted on 10 August 2010 at 19:26:20 GMT Indeed thanks for the new section Pete! Wonder why my vision has infact improved with age... Anyway, somewhere in BKC section I've earlier explained how I've used "intel" reports to guide my gaming. They are basic scetches of what and where the defender-me has deployed. They are simple symbols on an A5 sheet of paper. The defender-me has first deployed as per the intel report draen never minding what the attacker-me will later do. The fun part is the attacker-mes' draw of intel report. It may have the defender hugely underated or overrated and its positions totally wrong. Then the attacker-me has almost free hands along BKC scenario guidelines to choose his battlegroup. But, according to the intel report drawn! That means it may be hugely over-AT to cope with mostly inf or vice versa. Also, the scheduled arty or air strikes may find totally unsuitable targets, or no targets at all where the intel rep says they should be! I had 8 units of pzgrens + two PAK40 and a mortar against 6 units of british inf, a troop of Shermans, a pair of Achilles, some arty and air... That expected to find a trio of Panthers with minimum inf, and in wrong places. Guess which-me won? Me ;-) IMHO these games don't do well with FAC:s and FAO:s. I like them the better the more rigid and pre-planned they are for say first 2-3 turns. The intel rep just adds some more surprise elements. V-P |

Posted on 24 August 2010 at 03:28:32 GMT Things that I've found have worked: I use Panzer Leader counters and plus 50% dummies, and place the defense on the board with the counters upside down. I do this one or more nights before actually playing the game. Even 1 day later, I can't remember exactly what's where. Counters get revealed when spotted. Or I'll peak at them if they have a good reason to consider taking opportunity fire. Defense gets some reinforcements: There can be a couple of reinforcement options, dice to see which one arrives. and/or: Dice to see which road the reinforcements arrive on. |

Posted on 12 September 2010 at 04:21:03 GMT "Programmed Wargame Scenarios" will work for solo play. Each scenario has programmed orders and objectives for both sides. This yahoo group http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/SoloWarGame... can also help as can http://www.wargames.co.uk/Pending/Archive/Octob... |
