After a successful Air assault order is given to a off-table drop-ship and the sequence completed [ p34, items 1 to 10] :

1)if the dropship leaves the table, can it be issued a subsequent air evac order ? Or are all off-table assets limited to one order per player-turn ?

2) if the drop-ship stays on-table, can it be issued an air-evac order? I assume that orders to on-table drop-ships are subject to the normal range penalty (i.e. CV reduction)?

This query arises as it is a very useful sequence of orders when playing the recce scenario.

Of course clever people put the commander in the dropship so question 2) is moot Grin

I suspect in 1) it's as we discussed on the day, 1 visit to the table per command phase. Realisticaly logistical issues would make it impractical so to allow it would perhaps whiff of the mature proverbial.

Not quite moot. If the Commander is on-board the drop-ship the order is either a mobile deployment from that commander to get on-table, or an air assault order from a commander already on the table. In the latter case, the commander in the dropship cannot issue an order to a unit which has already received an order from another commander (the dropship has). So the on-board commander can only become active in the next turn.

I just want to check that the intention of the rules is one trip on or off the table per command phase for any dropship. That makes sense to me. Stunned

I think one drop per turn is enough.

Thanks Pete, thats what I thought.

One air assault OR one air evac order per dropship per game-turn it is.

Cool

...so if you put the commander on the drop ship, you don't have to roll for drift. The down side is that you take up one occupant space in the ship, i.e. one less Inf stand that could have joined the assault action.
