I'm looking at building an all mecha army. How do I build a command mecha using the unit builder?

Just as a normal command stand, and use a mecha figure to represent it?

I was trying to create a fighting command unit. A commander in back seat while the pilot fights the mech.

Generaly command units may only be transported in dropships and then they can only order the dropship or other units in the dropship.

This helps to prevent massive cheese where your unit never suffers a command distance penalty commander.

There have ben discussions on comamnders in IFVs, very useful if you are on a bug ridden planet but still not strictly cricket.

Idealy as toxicpixie suggests, but if you are minded to have him mounted in a fighting mec then have the Mech unit have a transport space and then place a 'standard' command within. Be very aware of the nasty outcomes for units transported when the transporting unit is hit or destroyed.

Note that only the skirmish version allows commanders to be fighting units. At the normal game mode they are too busy running the show to fight... unless as AA of course.

Stick 'em in a Rifleman model and say it's too busy providing flak to fight normally. And too rubbish Grin

Actually, doesn't BKC2 have a sidebar note on "fighting commanders"? Think as stenicplus suggests they work a bit like the skirmish level commanders...

I like your Pixie Grin

Not a for my Inner Sphere regiment as they are a combined arms force force(using the mobile H.Q. model).

The issue is the Clan mechs.

Clanners don't take orders from anyone, they just shout for the honour of clan death womble and attack Wink

Erm, yes, that's more awkward. Maybe a mech, some elementals and a few unarmoured infantry on a big base to represent the comman elements?

Fings wot I has learned.

Give up on trying to post to this forum using a phone. It will eat your posts, randomly delets words and add stuff!

Thamk you for your suggestions.

Stenicplus, I like your suggestion. The effects of not providing suitable protection to a fighting command would be an interesting twist to a game.

Would teach a player to protect the boss, and only commit him to combat when desperately needed (prevent a breakthrough, exploit a enemy weekeness etc). Great idea for learning to offset risk...

No protection for command elements invites 'command overruns'. If you play this out solo you will see that this produces a variety of outcomes - usually shunting the commander back, too far means off the table.

Up to you if you apply the overrun after the first unit arrives or if you stack up the assault dice from everything in a group move which can cross the Commander's base. I use the latter as it means very bad things if you get swamped, which makes more sense to me.Cool
