Hello, newbie here.

Getting interested in BKC but rules currently not available. However I can get FWC ruleset.

The question is how similar are the game mechanics in each? FWC as a primer for BKC?

Really quite close.
If you can, download the Quick Reference Sheet. Once you've read the mechanics, the rest should be on the sheet.
Of course, you won't get the Army Lists, but there are plenty around to be starting with.
The latest version of the WW2 rules is BKC2.

Overall quite close, in detail not so much. Playable as Huey says, but there might be some fudging!
