How could you use psychic abilities in FWC? (Not the players psychic abilities but the units!)

Here's some thoughts:
a) A psychic unit (PU) acts to lower the CV of any enemy HQ within a specified distance
b) A psychic units (PU) gives friendly units within a specified distance the equivalent of Adaptive Camouflage ("These are not the drones you ae looking for"Wink
c)A psychic unit can give orders to opposing units during the initiative phase. Probably limit this to enemy units within the initiative distance of the PU and need a die roll to implement.

Some existing abilities like Stealth and Teleporting already have a psychic feel about them. You also give PU Shield Domes.

(not original ideas, but...)

Ability to suppress enemy units in the initiative phase (using telekenesis to pull pins on grenades, unauthorised discharges of small arms, etc, etc)

Ability to spot concealed units at great distances and out of LOS (clairvoyance).

Space Marine used those (or similar) with their Eldar Farseers. (I used to play a lOT of Eldar)!

Im painting my latest 6mm FWC army, Marine cops (SM). Im planning on using the Librarian figures as FAO's.

So when they call in an orbital strike, its actually them using psychic powers to unleash some sort of destruction on the enemy. No special rules...Just keeping it all simple!

Nice - I'm a fan of using the original rules without needing toa dd anything.

Perhaps give your recce units (or specific psychic units) Target Designators to represent clairvoyant 'I know where the enemy will be' or telepathic 'I can show you in your mind where they are' abilities.

I especially like Adaptive Camouflage for representing the 'fogging' of enemy minds or sensors. Or pinch the Grey Alien science team Mindwarp ability to represent the option A you suggest.

You could draw a distinction between units with integral psychic abilities/attached psykers (e.g. give your infantry units Adaptive Camo/Stealth etc) for races with lots of 'low-level' psychic powers, or go for special 'psyker stands' like the Grey Alien science teams with more radical/powerful abilities (like representing a Marine Librarian as an FAO with Ortillery strikes).

The orbital strike psyker option is just how it's portrayed in the Woken Furies / Broken Angels books by Richard K Morgan, where the psykers (accidentally) bring down orbital strikes from the long-exstinct martian defense systems orbiting the world, whilst fighting an infestation of self-aware war-machines gone ferral.

I'm kicking off a 40k campaign in march; 40k but set in the 32nd Millennium between the Frateris Templars and the Adeptus Mechanicus (using DRM Pax and Andrayadan minis).

Psykers! Of course!! I forgot about them...

I support the idea that you can stat them up using most of the existing rules and stat lines/abilities.

'Psyker scout team'

Type: RECCE
Move: 30 G ('grav' being their psychic flight abilities)
Attack: 2/30 [Pulse weapon](psychic holocaust)
Melee: 3 (psychic daggers)
Hits: 3
Armour: 4+ (Psychic defense aura)
Notes: Target designators (clairvoyance and telepathy with the auto-link units).

Nice...
