Hello, can you tell me if I played this close combat out correctly?

Rear of Infantry Unit #1 is in contact with Artillery Unit #2's right-flank. Unit #1 is suppressed by fire and attacked to its front and loses combat bt 1.

It does not retreat into Unit #2 as as it is already in contact with it but I deemed Unit #2 suppressed anyway.

Nor was Unit #1 retirement enough to clear area occupied by Unit #2, so I left it in position, with combat continuing (though counting enemy as pursuing, as it won the combat).

Unit #1 then lost another round of combat but again not enough to clear the adjoining suppressed, friendly unit.

I played on another round of combat (which Unit #1 won) but should Unit #1 and #2 have been destroyed by the earlier results?

They would both be destroyed as unit #2 is suppressed and unit #1 retreated into it.
