Pse advise, does anyone apply restrictions on the amount of smoke ammunition that can be made available for mortars and artillery in their games? Currently building up to a small campaign St Lo, Op Cobra and Mortain offensive areas. Have adopted hits stay on units rather than lifting at the end of owners turn and this works very well. Bocage is interesting..... Still carrying out test games and currently on move 14 of a Bn attack in and around an area known as the purple heart draw. In anticipation many thanks Dougie

There's the requirement to have it bought as an asset for planned fire. If it isn't planned then there's the -1 on the request roll for calling in smoke.

We don't play points games usually, so it's either planned and typically limtied to 1-3 turns of scheduled fire; or requested and then the -1, but no limit on the number of shots in the latter case. So you can try to call for it as often as you want and there's no limit in our games. That said, never seen it used for more than 2 turns.

Many thanks, We have moved away from points games and will probably keep this up. I had not picked up on the -1 for calling in smoke; and now thinking of imposing a limit on the amount of smoke that can be called over any number of turns. I know there were ratio's regarding the holdings of HE/Smoke natures for both guns and mortars, hmmm just need to find these details again. Again many thanks.
