I realise this is a very old version of the game, but I've been out of the hobby for sometime now. Since my boys are now old enough and interested enough, I've hauled the rules out and was wondering if there was any kind of errata sheet for the first edition. It's either this or give in to them and get into Bolt Action Smile

I understand that BKC II is a more improved version of the game, but with BKC IV on it's way {??}, I'd like to hold out for that.

PS Kudos to Pendraken for making the difficult decision to shelve BKC III and move on. Painful, expensive but necessary and honourable.

Thanks in advance.

BKC IV is on its way ... we are at proof reading and list checking stage.

Please don't hold us to dates - but ASAP - like all things it takes a long time to unravel and reconstruct something Grin

If you're playing BKC1 to pass the time to BKC4, I don't think you need to worry too much about any errata. I think Billb has it right anyway with the errata being on this website.

Great, thanks guys. Looking forward to BKC IV. No pressure Mark! Grin Proofreading stage sounds promising though. Good luck!

Biggest difference between BKC-1 and BKC-2/BKC-4 is that weapons have AntiTank and AntiPersonnel values. All the other changes are easy to get use to. Play BKC-1 and learn the basics, then when BKC-4 hits upgrade and have fun.

I’m reviewing the rules too and they look great. Bravo Zulu to the guys who are doing all the heavy lifting on getting the work done.

Thanks T-Square - I have to say, like all things it probably wont pass the Abraham Lincoln test (pleasing all of the people all of the time) but we are moving forwards.

Lots of constructive feedback coming in from play-testers - what is clear is that we can probably 'cull' a number of the special characteristics as they are a bit over complex or unnecessary and we are also re-drafting the Recce section - as I knew what I wanted to say but it can come across as "goobldegook" to others Stunned

But we move forward as rapidly as we can.

I am now thinking about a Great War Commander set - but that might have to wait until after CWC and FWC Grin

many thanks for your support - specifically on the army lists - all help there gratefully received as my knowledge is limited by my areas of interest.

GWC gets my vote Mark. I've been wanting to try a WW1 version of BKC for some time.

In my opinion the Commander series is a bit clumsy for WW1 and other infantry heavy wars.

I've used it for the Russo-Japanese War and found it to be quite slow but we did have 120 platoons of infantry plus supporting weapons.

Given that the Commander series is derived from Warmaster, in theory Great War Commander should work. I have pondered over a few tweaks for BKC to create GWC:
- Off-table artillery to be scheduled only.
- Air support to be determined by the roll of a die (ie. you buy the air support and it might turn up, it might not).
- Only 3 orders may be given to a formation each game turn
- Iniative actions are replaced by a 'fixed orders' action, such as advance, charge or shoot. So each turn your units will perform this action if possible, whether you want them to or not.

But that's another rulebook for another time. Let's look forward to BKCIV first.
