Hello, I was wondering what statistics you need to adapt when playing a 20mm battle.
I read in the rules (very first page) that all weapon ranges are doubled. Thats it?? What with the initiative (20cm) , movements, command distances,...? That all stays equal?

thx

oh yes, I am new here, this is my first post on this forum.
If there are people around Antwerp playing these rules... send me a PM
I play 6mm, 20mm and 28mm

Hi Cepero and welcome to the forum.
I regularly play in both 10mm and 20mm scales and make no changes at all, however some players do double all measurements in 20/28mm but then you need a large board to play on.

After a test battle I realised that to have the most out of my HQ's I almost need to pile up a whole tank formation around it. It's the only way for not loosing too many command rolls.
in 1/285 it's alot different since you can almost fill a whole village within the 20cm ;-)

Hi cepero

I have played in 20mm (mostly) and 6mm (a lot) and (rarely) in 10mm. We have played rules mainly as they are but probably use a number of HQs as we try to follow historical formations. So if playing with a company of tanks and a company of infantry each would have their own HQ, plus battlegroup CO. If trying to re-create a battalion action then the number of HQs increase. So perhaps using more HQs may help?

"Realisticaly" the closer you operate together the easier to commmand and control your troops but the bigger / easier target they make for HE from artillery etc; so the answer is to disperse which makes command and control more difficult. I think the rules re-create that well.

Like Carl says, the larger the scale the lower you need to devolve command, if only to fit in - so instead of one Battalion HQ with nine tanks, then three company HQs each with three tanks etc.

I'd be tempted to get a copy of FWC for the skirmish amendments - I think playing 20mm as one figure = one man would work nicely...
