Hi Folks, I,m working out the stats for the Reihenwerfer. the 16 barreled 81mm mortar carrier, used ONLY by the 21st panzer in normandy. FOW make a model of one in 15mmStunnedGimme It fired as a salvo but took longer to reload. It would use the mortar range and the rocket template for blast area and doubleQuestionthe mortar attacks for effect . this is my best guess because the vehicle is not in the late war german list. any input would be great Smile Phil

Greetings

If it's on table I suspect it won't fire as a template. It might get a bit more than the 8cm mortar effect but still against one unit. Given that one of the things about mortars is their rapid fire rate the reihenwerfer may not be much more effective than a well crewed 8cm given the reload issues.

Regards

Edward

Howdy, " captured and converted French vehicles in German service" by David Lehman . This is a 14 page PDF free download . Great source of information. It seems other formations (716 ID) used the reihenwerfer as their artillery .(off board) Cool. Phil.

I was involved in a discussion at the local club last week about hearing incoming mortar bombs; my only practical experence of mortars has been at the shooting end, but I believe you don't usually hear the bomb's descent. If so a multiple tube would have great effect on an unprepared target since several bombs would land before anyone reacted.
Not hearing 'incoming' bombs is mentioned a few times here:

I've always been partial to the Borgward B IV used in Berlin among other places though I've never built one.

How did the Reihenwerfers go?
I am doing SWORD Beach weekend game next year and as they were used by 21st Panzer Division, I was going to use them as off table SP artillery units, using a 20cm template with 6 attacks and a reload of every other turn.
