Hey guys, a few noob questions!

1) do your own infantry block LoS or can you shoot through them?
2) when is is better to act during the Initiative phase instead of waiting for the Command phase?
3) when you declare your commands before you roll, how detailed must you be? Is it enough to say "move" or "shoot", or do you have to indicate the spot you're moving to and the target you are shooting?
4) also, do you have to say what order your units will be acting in if you command a formation and want the individual units to do different things?
5) if a Command Unit fails its first roll, can it still move at the end of the Command phase?
6) how do you foster more maneuver? Most of our games bog down into shooting galleries from cover.
7) if a unit takes some hits from an attack, but not enough to knock it out, then on the next command takes more hits, still not enough to knock it out, however combined they would do so, is it knocked out? Hits reset only at End phase, correct?
8) some people say to leave hits permanently or at least one to make a faster game. Why not just lower the to-hit number if that's what you're after? 3+ in the open, etc.

Thanks guys!

Hi

1. Units with the same profile block LOS.
Units with a lower profile do not block LOS ie average shooting through low

2. It depends... initiative is a guaranteed action but does give -1 to command rolls for that unit. I'm not sure if the enemy are allowed to opp fire during initiative so it's useful for moving troops into cover

3. Just "move" is good enough but for firing you have to state the target

4. It's often worth saying if firing troops are goping to shoot before or after other units move

5. Yes

6. I'll have to pass on that but shooting is the core of the game

7. Hits are reset at end phase therefore they will be knocked out if they go over their hits during the command phase

8. I don't know

I'll comment on points 6 and 8.

To improve manoeuvre have more space for the troops to move in, especially to the left and right. If a table is too narrow, you can only go straight ahead, in which case 2 firing lines is what will naturally develop.

Having terrain elements parallel to the line of advance will help too, so you can outflank, but with cover

Smoke barrages.

Leaving hits on will make for very short games, I've never felt the need to try it, but you may want to give it a go.
