Hello,

I have some German 75mm and 150mm IG and was looking at a truck to tow them.

Would I get away with the Peter Pig Steyr truck? I am not too fussy about accuracy.

I'd be tempted by the Zvesda Opel Blitz - nice model, cheap as chips!

Or use a captured Russian tank, perhaps with no turret...

I believe it is the Steyr 640 which was a light truck produced up to 1941. Same class as Krupp Protz as far as I can tell so perfectly suitable to tow the 7.5cm. Not sure it was man enough for the 15cm though.

I am glad someone is up on trucks.

Not much on Wiki.

The other choice I thought about was the Krupp Protz from QRF. The Zveda Opel Blitz is an option, but more wheels looks cooler .....

Krupp was one of the official tows for the 7.5cm but not big enough for the 15cm AFAIK. Official tows were the Sdkfz 10 or Blitz types. If looking for something a bit different perhaps the QRF Praga or captured Gaz. Quite partial to using French stuff myself would probably go for a Citroen Kegresse though UE or Lorraine tractors would be fun.

Looking at the weight of the 15cm IG I would say an Sdkfz 10 wouldn't be man enough - I'd say Sdkfz 11.

Keith,

Nigel is fine. Not some much a case of knowing what I'm talking about, I just know where to find stuff.
