victorious germans advancing eastwards in the first week of june, suddenly receive word that all is not well - soviet armour and infantry are sat astride their supply line, and are even now seeking to attack them from their rear...

Initial german force is an infantry battalion, with an attached Pak 38... plus cavalry from division... plus a stug company...

somewhere in their rear, and now heading west, are elements from two panzer units - one czech equipped, one german equipped... plus a second landser battalion, and an armoured infantry group with extra pak. Luftwaffe are rounding up an 88 battery to help out as well (it's in the post from Warlord, honest guv)...

initial russian force is 2 rifle regiments, plus light tank company (with flamethrower platoon)... back up is in the form of a fast tank brigade (T34s, with BTs, moving at 30 - witha not so nippy KV2) and an old style tank brigade (30s tank designs, all moving at 10)...

opening turn: germans have the initiative - artilleyr and air is all east at the front, so it's bring what you've got.. fortunately the germans have the remains of Soviet border defences to provide some cover... Soviets start out within initiative range so the Germans get to suppress a few out of the box...

the front dog legs, with the cavalry watching the open flank... soviet riflemen and light tanks are spotted in the stream beds.. the cavalry wisely melt away, alerting the StuG to the enemy as they go...

The germans opted to sit behind their defences and pot soviets.

Soviet rifle battalion on the flank, with attached light tanks, fluffs its initial roll (CV7) so stays in the stream bed... regiment in the centre engages by battalion, refrains from moving... other two battalions engage the landser platoons facing them and, in a bout of inspired leadership (4 actions from CV7!) sweep them aside and begin to advance! URRAH!

With the cavalry gone the advancing Czech panzer unit (CV11) manages 4 moves to cover the flank, and 2 rounds of firing into the inert soviet masses...

the german panzer unit advances and then has a command blunder! - uncontrolled advance - to the nearst enemy...

when we broke for tea (after completing three turns) the Soviets had committed one regiment to the assault, while the other engaged in firefights from and into woods, for relatively light losses.

The Czech group took some nasty losses from Soviet armour and atrs... having only 3 hits can be a problem... but it now has a foot battalion coming up to support it...

The german group is sitting in the centre of the line... waiting to see where it has to go to next... it's mc unit is debussing to replenish the lead battalion...

Aside from the light tanks the Soviet armour has yet to appear on table...

they have an eclectic mix (T28, BT7, BT5, T34, KV2) but as always there'll be a hitch.. (evil, moi? just because every bunker the germans hold is already shattered...)

and we're all set to pick up and carry on in a fortnight

Great photo shoot Tinnedstew, I recognise a few props from Triples and the quality of them still gives much pleasure as do the quality of your photos of these lovely afvs and inf etc. I especially liked the armoured train making an appearance. And the teddy bear fur works well everytime you guys seem to deploy it!!

Nice work guys.

Superb. I think your models are 25/8mm Yes? I am always intrigued to see what changes, if any, people make to the game when using larger models like 20mm or 25mm.

Thanks for the photos.

hi...

Yep, the teddy bear fur rides again Smile my fave snap so far is the mc teams riding through it Smile

the toys are a mix of black tree, bolt action, artizan, westwind, battle honours, force of arms, chieftain/ bef, company b and agnm/nzwm and so all 28mm.

The log huts are pegasus, the bunkers are home built by bert fegg's builder in residence

next time we get to see if/where the tank brigade(s) arrive, and just how good the luftwaffe can be...

That looks really great - the Stug hugging the treeline is fab, but not so sure about the T26 'train' in the first few photos

Quick question for you - is one infantry figure a 'squad' in 28mm? i.e is this game being played at a 1-1 ratio?

I only ask because I am starting a smallish collection of Weird War II miniatures and have been considering the BKC2 mechanics at a skirmish level?

12 * 12ish... Table

the gulashkanone is my favourite command unit Smile

sfai can see there's no difference as to how the rules work between 1:1 and the 1:5 version... I wouldn't call it a skirmish system, but its good fun!

Shows you the effect of a properly used Gulash Kanone Grin

round 2 will be delayed by a fortnight...

The germans like this as they are acquiring the makings of a pak front (mostly 36s) and a flak 88.

The soviets like it because they're receiving additional fast armour stocks from Stavka.

And ii like it because i get to think up extra ways to add friction to the game... "I thought you'd packed the main gun rounds" - "You mean you didn't?" 8^)
